Spain

Stretching our bodies in Spain.

And a very nice hotel in Bourdeaux!

Day 2 - 800Km from Bordeaux to Boulogne-sur-Mére

Nothing special about this day. But we spotted a Multipla at the hotel! And a UK one!

Day 3 - Calais/Dover, Rye, Bodiam Castle and Steying

In Calais waiting for the Seafrance ferry.

Entering the ferry through Calais 8 dock. The sea was very smooth, the sun was shining. A very good morning for the crossing.

The "white" Dover cliffs. Very very beautiful, specially with this bright sun!

The amazing felling of driving in the left! :-D
At the end of the first day driving this way, my left side of the brain hurted! :-)
I love the way your roundabouts are designed. Very logical. Before entering the roundabout the driver as indications to select the more adequate lane... Simple, but we don't have this here.. And i don't remember seeing this in other countries.
Also something i loved is that you have text signs that some how "educate" drivers by explaining them why this or that is happening. One i still remember is a yellow plate hanged in new motorways electronic traffic signs saying: "This sign is not in use". This may seem very unnecessary but it reveals the care for information. I loved it!

Rye.. Beautiful Rye.. We all fell in love for this small but so typical village. Someone in the forum said Rye is very English, and he was right. It is so classic, well preserved and, like most places we visited in England, very organized.
We all admired the equilibrium in your landscape and the buildings are all (99%) made from those "orange" bricks. So beautiful type of construction material. To you this may seem boring but believe me it's much better than in Portugal where houses are made at each one's taste for shapes or colors. This is another sign of respect you have for the life in community.

Very nice..
In here we call this bricks "tijolo burro", that translated is "donkey brick".. :-)
I'm sure you have a more appropriated name for them!Your's ancestors seem to be very small! :-)
The Old Bell, a famous pub in Rye.
A very cute guard!
Bodiam Castle.
In England almost everything as to be payed for visiting. It's bad for our budget but it's the logical thing to do... Just look at this well preserved castle.
Steyning - Nothing special, but i had to capture this:

Them we went to sleep in Southampton for, maybe, the greatest day of all in the island.

Day 4 - The New Forest and Stonehenge

The New Forest. This place really kicked our heart. We love animals. We love them so much that we avoid to the maximum to eat them. This conviction was even more reinforced by visiting New Forest. I think the pictures speak for themselves.

Lyndhurst

Educating with humor! The best way to learn... I just love the smoke... LOOOL

Two "donkeys" contemplating beauty! :-)
Imagine silence, it's so relaxing to ear him breathing...
I'm sorry but i have to share with you all that in Canada 200/day of these are killed to be in european plates... I think everyone should be in touch with animals to see that they only differ from us in shape but we can love them as we love each other.Peaceful sleep...
Trust me! I will ever ever ever eat you again!
We were in this road and someone, not anyone related to the New Forest staff, stopped the car and gave us a card with a number to call in case we find any injured animal in the park.
You respect animals much more than it's done here. I'm glad to see that.
We watch a show here at home from BBC that's
Animal Hospital. The show is 10 years old and it shows how you are advanced in animal care from Portugal.
One more interesting fact: We didn't saw 1 abandoned animal. In Portugal is something natural to see a dog or a cat in the streets... Shame...

Just look at this guy on the floor...
I promise the same to all of you! ;-)

Beaulieu - Beautiful place in french. Totally agree!
This donkey was passing by, someone gave him a carrot and he continued with his life...

Stonehenge.
This place is indeed mystical... No questions about it. I wasn't very interest in visiting it but after finishing the guided tour i just sat there looking at it wondering...Not a everyday road sign. But with the amount of Hummers on the roads maybe it will be more frequent! :-P

Then go to sleep in Frome!

Day 5 - Cheddar, Bath and the Royal United Hospital.

The 2 sisters! :)

A lot of the roads we passed had this natural tunnel. Very nice.

Another one!

Cheddar is a nice place. Of course we bought a couple of Cheddar cheese. "The only Cheddar made in Cheddar" :)

Another great community measure... I don't know if it works but at least the intention is there.

Bath is a fine place.

Bath didn't went so well.. Our friend Mané got hurt on her ankle during the Roman Bath's visit. We took her to the Hospital to make sure no bone was broken. Fortunately it was only inflamed but she had to be on crutches for 2 days.

She was very well treated at the Hospital. The nurses and doctors were very polite and always with a humorous touch. She didn't payed a penny for the treatment and the crutches were loaned with the condition to deliver them at any health facility before leaving the UK. Nice!

Then sleeping in Bracknell.
